Overview

This course is designed to introduce participants to Visual and Object-Oriented Programming Concepts, Inheritance, Polymorphism, and Encapsulation. Participants are taught how to write stand-alone windows applications with dialogue boxes, option buttons, checkboxes, menus, windows style, help facilities, ActiveX controls, windows DLLs, and installable programs. The usage of windows API is also covered. Participants will be required to design, develop and present at least one stand-alone, installable business or personal application for evaluation at the end of the course.

Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

• Understand the desktop application development process
• Gather user requirements and translate same into software design
• Properly design a GUI in accordance with industry best practices on user experience and human-computer interaction.
• Create and package a fully-functional desktop application that can be installed on user systems

• Software Development Fundamentals or its equivalent
• Database Fundamentals or its equivalent
