Overview
Databases and database technologies are having a major impact on the growing use of computers. It is fair to say that databases play a critical role in almost all areas where computers are used, including business, e-commerce, engineering, medicine, law, education, finance, government and library science to name a few. The need for advanced database professionals is very high and growing as the use of computer systems continues to grow across various disciplines and industries.
This course deals with more advanced database concepts and builds on our Database Fundamentals Course. It is structured to provide, the adequate skills, knowledge, and expertise needed to design, implement, maintain and repair computerized databases to facilitate the management, access, retrieval, sharing, and configuration of large amounts of data in an enterprise environment.

- Advanced database systems concepts and architecture
- Advanced data modeling using the Entity-Relationship Model.
- Functional dependencies and normalization for relational databases of enterprise-grade systems
- Enterprise database management systems options and editions.
- Overview of two popular enterprise database management systems Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL
- Advanced installation and configuration of the latest versions of Microsoft SQL Server & MySQL
- Creating databases and tables using enterprise database management systems
- Implementing indexes, partitions and taking database snapshots
- Automating administrative tasks with SQL Server Agent
- Using dynamic management view to monitor the database and troubleshoot problems; backup, restore and repair databases
- Managing stored procedures and building more complex SQL queries
